One of the rarest Pinot’s in the country!
2012 Tantara “T Solomon Wellborn” Pinot Noir
Winestore Price $24.99 net
This wine has not been made since the 2008 vintage, and after a good deal of begging and groveling we are pleased to be able to offer you this one shot run of T. Solomon Wellborn Pinot Noir. Only 88 cases were made, and they all came right here to winestore.
What is the story behind the T. Solomon label? Well, as you may know, Tantara Winery has an impeccable reputation as being one of California’s premier Pinot Noir producers. Its flagship wine Evelyn’s Cuvee, priced at a not so friendly $80 per bottle is cherished by Pinot Noir aficionados around the nation. After selecting the barrels that go into its single-vineyard Pinot program – Pisoni, La Colline, Rio Vista (bottlings that range in price from $40 to $70 each) — there will be a small number left over that just don’t quite make the “cut”. If there are enough of them to make a few cases, Tantara bottles them under the T. Solomon Wellborn label. Director of Sales Ernie Vandegrift, for the first time since the 2008 vintage, has allowed winestore. to be the only retailer in the United States to sell this wine. It may have something do to with the fact that only 88 cases were produced of the 2012 vintage. You read that correctly…only 88 cases of this wine exist.
We suspect those of you who remember this wine will gobble this all up – so let’s hope it’s not another four years between vintages!
